Bedazzled (2000): good, devilish fun!
Trailer:
Plot:
The opening sequence takes the form of a computer simulation run by the Devil to analyze souls and determine individual weaknesses to exploit and corrupt. The program finally settles on Elliot Richards (Brendan Fraser), a geeky, over-zealous man working a dead-end technical support job in a San Francisco computer company. He has no friends and his co-workers are always avoiding him. He has a crush on his colleague, Alison Gardner (Frances O'Connor), but lacks the courage to ask her out. After Elliot is again ditched by his co-workers at a bar while trying to talk to Alison, he says to himself that he would give anything for Alison to be with him. The Devil, in the form of a beautiful woman (Elizabeth Hurley), overhears him and offers to give Elliot seven wishes in return for his soul.
As a test, he wishes for a Big Mac and Coke. The Devil takes him to McDonald's and places the order. Elliot has to pay for it, because, "there ain't no such thing as a free lunch."
After taking Elliot to her office, based at a nightclub in Oakland, the Devil convinces Elliot to sign her contract, and delivers further wishes. Each wish has Elliot living them out with Alison and his co-workers in surrogate roles. However, he doesn't know that the Devil will always spoil his wishes by adding something he doesn't want. Elliot wishes to be rich and powerful, with Alison as his wife. The Devil makes him a Colombian drug lord whose wife despises him and cheats on him with Raoul, his co-worker, who is secretly planning to get rid of Elliot and take his position and property. Soon after there is a firefight between his and Raoul's people where Elliot "dies". When he returns to the real world, the Devil points out that he never wished for Alison to love him.
Secondly, Elliot wishes to be emotionally sensitive so he will understand the needs and desires of women. The Devil makes him so sensitive that he spends most of his time crying over how beautiful the world is, and constantly asks Alison, his girlfriend of "three magical weeks," whether he has hurt her or if she needs anything. Alison says she has had enough of it and wants to be with a man who is strong and shallow. She then leaves Elliot for a man who is strong, rude and completely different from the romantic and emotionally sensitive Elliot. Elliot then wishes to be a superstar athlete who would be a woman magnet. The Devil makes him a cliché-spewing NBA star, but also gives him a small penis and a low IQ, which causes Alison, a sports reporter, to lose interest in him shortly after they meet.
He then wishes to be intelligent, witty and well-endowed. The Devil grants this by making him a famous writer whom Alison falls in love with at a cocktail party. When they arrive at Elliot's home to make love it is revealed that Elliot is gay and living with a flamboyant male partner. Lastly, Elliot wishes to be President of the United States to try to improve the world and get Alison to take him seriously. The Devil makes him Abraham Lincoln at Ford's Theatre on the night of his assassination which he nearly avoids. After each wish is renounced, Elliot meets with the Devil and she blames him for not being specific enough. Eventually he returns to work, thinking about what he should do with the last two wishes. The Devil then appears on the computer screen, pointing out that he only has one wish left. This is because on their first meeting he asked for a Big Mac and Coke, although she had stated that it was a test wish and granted it before Elliot signed the contract. Elliot loses his patience and storms out of his office.
Elliot visits a church looking for God's help, where he briefly confesses to a priest who seems sympathetic. However, after being asked whether he thinks asking the Devil for a Big Mac and Coke counts as a wish, the priest, believing he is drunk, has Elliot arrested. The sergeant books him, and the Devil, dressed as a police officer, throws him in a cell, telling him that she does like him, and it would not hurt to have her as a friend. Elliot's cellmate (Gabriel Casseus) tells him that he cannot possibly sell his soul as it belongs to God, and although the Devil may try to confuse him, in the end he will realise who he truly is, and what his purpose is. Elliot questions the man as to his identity, but the response is simply "a really good friend", hinting that he may in fact be God, or at least, an angel.
Elliot asks the Devil to cancel their contract. When the Devil refuses, Elliot states he will not use his final wish. The Devil teleports them to Hell, where she transforms first into a black horned monster, then into a giant. When the Devil pushes him to make a final wish, Elliot wishes that Alison could have a happy life. The Devil sighs and Elliot falls into the depths of Hell. Elliot wakes up on a marble staircase, wondering if it is Heaven. The Devil tells him that because a provision in the contract's fine print, unread by Elliot, states that a selfless wish voids the contract, Elliot keeps his soul. Elliot admits that despite her manipulation of him he has come to like the Devil and regards her as a friend, something she does not object to. She also advises that Heaven and Hell can be found on Earth; it is up to humans to choose. Elliot finally asks Alison out, only to learn that she is already dating another man. He continues with his life, but with a better understanding of who he is.
Later Elliot is confronted by Bob (Paul Edelstein), one of his co-workers, who starts ridiculing Elliot at the encouragement of his co-workers. Elliot loses his temper and grabs a terrified Bob by the shirt, but lets go, simply saying, "Nice talking to you." A threatening look sends his other co-workers scurrying away in fear. At home, he meets a new neighbor, Nicole Delarusso (also played by Frances O'Connor), whose looks resemble Alison's, but whose personality, interests and fashion sense are much closer to his. He offers to help her unpack and they begin a relationship. While the two walk along a boulevard, the Devil and Elliot's cellmate, both dressed in white, are seen playing chess, looking at Elliot and his new girlfriend, with the Devil taking the opportunity to fix the game but get caught by the guy, who only laughs about that and let her finish her cheating moves. The scene ends with the Devil's computer program listing foibles of Nicole's and Elliot's, which they both tolerate.
The Review:
I love this movie because of its fun devilry that keeps Elliot out of turn everytime he makes a wish :D
for example, in the first wish that he made, the Devil turns him into the Spanish speaking drug lord, hahahah
the scene where he realises he's homosexual is also funny. the boyfriend is really a scene stealer, hahahah
the best scene would have been when Elliot meets Nicole. she's adorable!! too adorable that she completely made up for the shortcomings of Alison in all the 5 wishes Elliot has made :)
watch this movie, because it's hilariously funny. trust me. plus, EH is really charming as the Devil, she seems to be having a lot of fun with Elliot that in the end, i couldn't be mad at her at all. plus, she looks real good in this movie, love her clothes!

Man Up (2015): refreshing!

The Trailer:
The Plot:
When a man (Simon Pegg) mistakes her for his blind date, a woman (Lake Bell) decides to play along to see what happens. they spend their time together and have so much fun that Nancy dreads telling Jack that she's not Jessica, not really..

it boils down to having Nancy's longtime adulator, Sean (Rory Kinnear) to blackmail Nancy in the toilet that finally the ruse is out.. Jack is furious at the deception but Nancy tries to reason with him that she is just taking her chances with him.. she's 34 already and for once, she's being impulsive. they continue to snap at each other until Jack realizes that his bag is left at the cantina with Nancy's diary in it. they race each other for it and arriving, Jack's bitterness over the deception simply simpers down.. he tries to be cordial to Nancy until the arrival of his divorced wife, Hilary and the man she was having affair with simply annoyed him. Jack passes Nancy off as his girlfriend and good naturedly, she just plays along. once Hilary lets it out to Nancy that it was she who was having an affair during the marriage, Nancy sees Jack on a different light and sets out to help him out. they flirt and dance it off to make Hilary jealous.
on the dance floor, Jack and Nancy converse about each other, this time more openly seeing each other's faults. it hurt Nancy badly that Jack is able to see her cynic view of life. it makes her think of herself. they then proceed to drink a shot together with Hilary and Ed. Ed's coat suddenly gets caught in the fire and Nancy, having lied about being a firefighter is trusted to put off the fire only to spurt the nozzle towards Hilary and Ed both..
the laugh over the incident brings Jack and Nancy close again that as they go to the Waterloo Station where Jack is supposed to meet the real Jessica, Nancy mumbles about inviting Jack over to her parents' 40th anniversary party. Jack obviously doesn't catch up with the invitation as he's excited over meeting the 24-year-old Jessica. they part in good faith as Nancy kiss Jack's cheek.

at her parents' house, over the jubilant mood of the party, Nancy simply breaks down and cries over losing Jack much to the consternation of her family. on the other hand, Jack finally meets up with Jessica (Ophelia Lovibond) and discovers that the chemistry is not there between them. he ends up telling her about Nancy and she encourages him to find her.
remembering that Sean is the only link to Nancy, Jack finds him at the bowling alley. Sean drives him to a house and drops him off. only for Jack to find out that he's at a wrong house where a party of young people is going on. thankfully, a boy (Dean-Charles Chapman) there knows where Nancy used to live. Jack then leads the whole bunch of boys and girls to Nancy's parents' house where he finally makes a speech about how he feels. to which Nancy answers, quid pro quo :)
Review:
I adore this movie. it is funny, heartfelt and honest. Jack and Nancy are so believable and the chemistry between both of them is just right.. Sean is disgusting, thank you. and the fact that there is a boy in a random party (Tommen of GoT no less) who knows where once Nancy lived simply boggled my mind.
this movie makes me pine, the way a great romantic movie does, for a really great guy like Jack.. he's not frighteningly attractive, and has his failings, yet somehow, the heart simply connects, regardless. it doesn't take weeks, months nor years, a day would suffice..
me = hopeless romantic.
one thing that I really love about this movie is that it puts LB as the person who withholds the truth. usually it is a guy thing who simply decides to play the ruse, this time it's a woman's role, which is I find a refreshing twist. mind you, at age 34 myself, given the situation, I would too, within a heart beat. because Jack seems awfully like a nice person. he's charming on the get go and they simply click off from the start. I would like to find out where it would lead, don't you too? take chances, put yourself out there, or like Nancy chants over and over "get stronger thighs"
hehehe

Accepted: Simply GENIUS thought provoking FUN
Trailer:
The Plot:
Bartleby Gaines (Justin Long) is a persuasive high-school senior who, among other pranks, creates fake IDs. His gifts do not extend to grades, however, and he receives rejection letters from all of the universities and colleges to which he applies, including those with high acceptance rates.

In an attempt to seek approval from his strict father (Mark Derwin), Bartleby creates a fake college, the South Harmon Institute of Technology (S.H.I.T.). He is aided by his best friend, Sherman Schrader III (Jonah Hill), who has been accepted into the prestigious Harmon College, and fellow rejects Rory Thayer (Maria Thayer), a hard-working girl who, due to prevalence of Legacy preferences, failed to get in to Yale University, the only school she applied to, Hands Holloway (Columbus Short), who lost his athletic scholarship after an injury, and Glen (Adam Herschman), who got a "0" on the SAT when he neglected to sign his name.

To make the "college" seem legitimate, Bartleby convinces Sherman to create a fully functional Web site for the school. Later on, with Rory's help he also leases an abandoned psychiatric hospital adjacent to Harmon College and renovates it to look like a college campus, using the college enrollment fee that his father gave to him.

When his domineering father insists on meeting the dean, Bartleby hires Schrader's uncle, Ben Lewis (Lewis Black), a former educator, to play that role.
The seemingly innocent ploy quickly spins out of control when the website, which automatically accepts any applicant, enrolls hundreds of other rejected students.
Bartleby realizes that these people have nowhere else to go, so he lets them believe that the school is real, a place where they will finally feel accepted. After a visit to Harmon disenchants him with traditional college life, he has the students make up their own classes and be their own teachers.
Students write down what they want to learn on a giant whiteboard, with classes ranging from the culinary arts and sculpting to "Taking a Walk and Thinking about Stuff," "Foreign Affairs: Hooking Up Overseas," "Rock Our Faces Off 222," and the invention of one freaky kid (Jeremy Howard) who wants to learn how to "blow shit up...with my mind."

Bartleby even goes so far as to create a school newspaper (the S.H.I.T. Rag) and a mascot (the S.H.I.T. Sandwiches).
Meanwhile, the dean of nearby Harmon College, Richard Van Horne (Anthony Heald), makes plans to construct the Van Horne Gateway, an adjacent park-like "verdant buffer zone" by which the dean hopes "to keep knowledge in, and ignorance out." He dispatches Hoyt Ambrose (Travis Van Winkle) to free up the nearby properties, but when Bartleby refuses to relinquish the lease for the South Harmon property, Hoyt sets to work trying to reveal the college as a fake.
The dispute turns personal, since Bartleby has been vying for the affections of Hoyt's ex-girlfriend, Monica Moreland (Blake Lively). Hoyt exposes South Harmon as a fake institution through Sherman, who is attempting to join Hoyt's fraternity as a legacy, but is treated with humiliation and abuse by his fraternity brothers. After having Sherman beaten up, Hoyt forces him to hand over all the files he has created for South Harmon.
Hoyt then contacts all the students' parents to expose the school as a fake. Soon after the parents come and as a result of that, the institute is shut down. However as Sherman's has taken the initiative to file for accreditation, it gives Bartleby a chance to make his college legitimate.
At the State of Ohio educational accreditation hearing, Bartleby makes an impassioned speech about the failures of conventional education and the importance of following one's own passions instead of being dictated on what to do, convincing the board to grant his school a one-year probation to test his new system.
The institute reopens, with more students enrolling, including Sherman and Monica. Also, Bartleby finally earns the approval of his father, who is proud that his son actually owns a college. As the film closes, Van Horne is seen walking to his car in the Harmon College parking lot, only to watch it suddenly explode. Bartleby watches in astonishment as the freaky guy from earlier tells him "I told you I could do it", in that he made his psychokinetic explosions reality.
Review:
To me, Accepted is a simple take on education industry. It happens that these days, our generation lives by a certain standard that if not provoked, and flexed to a certain extent, it shall waste good talents like Bartleby's.
Of course, to some extent, it was too good to be true. but the ideals put forth are worthy. thought provoking.
Plus, I got JL and CS at their most carefree roles. JL is admirable and reminds me a lot about my younger brother who didn't graduate himself. sometimes life is more than just certificates and good job. it's about how you live your life and impacts on others.
Accepted has put JL in my good books the same way Get Over it puts Ben Foster on my map. They are both good and off-beat, a delight to put on rerun :)

Grown Ups 2: ohpleasegrowupalready!

the Trailer:
the Plot:
Three years after the events of the first film, Lenny Feder (Adam Sandler) has relocated his family back to his Connecticut hometown where he and his friends grew up.
In the film's opening in the Feder household, Lenny wakes up to find a wild deer standing next to his bed. Upon waking up, his wife Roxanne (Salma Hayek) startles the deer, causing it to urinate all over their home.

Eventually, Lenny is able to get the deer out of the house just in time to take his children Greg (Jake Goldberg), Keith (Cameron Boyce), and Becky (Alexys Nycole Sanchez) to their last day of school. Roxanne brings up the idea of their family having another baby, but Lenny says their family is perfect as is, upsetting Roxanne.
At the Lamonsoff household, Eric Lamonsoff (Kevin James) and his wife Sally(Maria Bello) are at odds with each other over how to raise their children. Sally believes in unwavering support while Eric prefers to be more practical with them. At the McKenzie household, Kurt (Chris Rock) surprises his wife Deanne (Maya Rudolph) with a thoughtful anniversary present, only to find that she has completely forgotten. Meanwhile, Marcus Higgins (David Spade) is waiting at a train station after receiving a letter from an old girlfriend, who tells him that he has a seventeen-year-old son Braden (Alexander Ludwig). Marcus is stunned to see a tattooed, six-foot-tall boy, who turns out to be Braden. Marcus tries to be nice and takes him to school, but Braden shows an immediate dislike toward him.
The school bus driver is wasted so Lenny takes charge of driving the bus, picking his friends along. After dropping off their kids, Lenny, Eric, Kurt, and Marcus spend the day roaming around town, reminiscing about the amazing summers they used to have when they were kids and Lenny's childhood bully, Tommy Cavanaugh (Steve Austin). Lenny argues that he could take Tommy as a kid and he can still take him. Eventually, the friends go to see Becky's ballet recital, where Lenny runs into Tommy, whom Lenny is visibly terrified of. Tommy threatens that if Lenny ever lies again about being able to beat him up, he'll publicly beat Lenny up.
Once the kids are out of school, Lenny, Eric, Kurt, and Marcus decide to visit the old quarry, where they used to swim as kids.

There they run into a bunch of partying frat boys (lead by Milo Ventimiglia and Taylor Lautner) who force them to jump into the quarry naked. Braden who was partying with the frat boys, witnesses this and goes off to vandalize their frat house. When the frat boys return, they swear to take revenge.
Lenny arrives home to help Roxanne set up for a 1980s-themed party for their friends. Meanwhile, Marcus begins to bond with Braden, who realizes he was wrong about his father. As all of their friends begin to arrive, Roxanne urges Lenny to consider having another baby. Lenny continues to protest the idea and is left dumbfounded when Roxanne reveals that she is pregnant.
Lenny, feeling overwhelmed by this discovery, goes off to drink with his friends. The Feder's party goes well most of the night until Tommy Cavanaugh shows up and disrespects Lenny in front of everyone, so Lenny challenges Tommy to a fight. In a surprising turn, Tommy decides to take a dive so that Lenny can look tough for his kids, and the two develop a mutual respect. Soon after, the angry frat boys arrive at the house looking for retribution for the damage to their frat house. They go on to insult the local town residents, inciting a fight. The locals hold their own against the frat boys and eventually send them running away defeated.

After all the commotion dies down, the four friends have pancakes at Eric's mom's house. Mrs. Lamonsoff (Georgia Engel) reassures Lenny that a new baby is a wonderful thing and eventually he will never be able to imagine life with just three kids. Lenny has a change of heart and returns home, telling Roxanne he is sorry and excited about the new baby, and they reconcile.
Review:
I knew I gave such a glowing review for the first film, but the sequel is too much.. There are (some) highlights but the tired run-of-the-mill jokes really bother me. I mean, please, I think you guys could find grown-up jokes that don't involve male nudity, horny old janitor, high and wasted adult, poop and such. Why stoop to low levels of funny HA??? The opening scene where the deer urinated all over is SO unnecessary! And it is odd that Roxanne has to scream when she saw Greg in nude. I mean, even though he's a teenager now, Greg is still YOUR son kan? Come on! To scream is to indicate there is some sort of detachment between a mother and her children. Don't you think so too?
urghhh.
Salma Hayek as Roxanne in this one is merely ornamental. There are scenes but she's almost invisible, only to shine a bit at the end of the movie when Lenny finally greets his unborn baby.
I also like the moral that Greg and Andre (Kurt's son) though having opportunities to drink alcohol during the frat party, had evaded to do so. This is what we should impart to our kids, even though grown-ups are not watching, you have an integrity to uphold. That it is your moral code that you should adhere to.
For a star awarded, I love that this movie is some sort of a reunion. We could see SNL players in it having fun.

And Oliver Hudson, David Spade's fellow in Rules Of Engagement was recruited as a yoga instructor. Dishy definitely but yes, still ornamental. No character development whatsoever. Pfftttt!
I also find it odd that Tommy picks the wrong time to reveal that he's a decent guy. I mean, if he truly respects Lenny as a guy, and am repentant of his past bullying, middle of the crowd is definitely not the place to confess. I mean, you could approach Lenny at another time, and yes STOP bullying him in public.
Another low point to me is Milo Ventimiglia playing frat boy role. I mean, he's a spectacular actor. To reduce him to such role is so degrading to me. Milo, you should have picked a better script than this T-T And Patrick Schwarzenegger is also wasted here. The producers could have picked other unknown faces and it won't matter a bit.
Oh, and the same opinion goes for Shaquille O'Neal's role as Officer Fluzoo. Degrading.

Regardless of the disappointments in the storyline, the film has done well to earn triple of its cost. Meaning that Adam Sandler and co has a solid support from moviegoers. Just please do it well next time, please. Lenny is such a decent guy that I wish the Grown Ups gang had a very nice closure, minus the silly (unfunny) gags. Do Grown Ups 3 better please!

Pitch Perfect: simply perfect just the way you are~~
Poster:
Trailer:
Plot:
Beca Mitchell (Anna Kendrick), a newly arrived freshman at Barden University, has no desire in attending college, though she is forced to attend by her father (John Benjamin Hickey), a professor at the university who intends on her having at least one good collegiate memory. The father-daughter has been strained since the divorce and his father remarrying. Beca sort of keep everything to herself, content of having music to occupy her minds instead of relating to others.
Wishing to instead move to Los Angeles to pursue a career in music making, Beca takes up an internship at the school radio station mans by Luke Morgan (Freddie Stroma), where she meets fellow freshman Jesse Swanson (Skylar Astin), who develops a not-so-secret crush on her.
When Beca's father discovers she has not been attending classes, he comes to her with a proposition: if she joins a club and still does not want to remain at college, he will allow and pay for Beca to move to Los Angeles.
After some persuasion from Chloe Beale (Brittany Snow), who really thinks Beca has the potential to do some good to the recruiting all-girl acapella group Barden Bellas, Beca attends the audition and managed to wow everybody with her simple impromptu rendition of "Cups Song".
At group rehearsal, Aubrey's controlling nature gets on the nerves of the other girls, especially Beca.
Meanwhile, Beca hangs out with Jesse, who has joined the Treblemakers, the Bellas' main rival. Aubrey warns the group not to have any sexual contact with the Treblemakers, or they'll be forced to leave the Bellas.
The acapella groups at the university were later having a riff-raf, the battle to win the infamous microphone some famous artist had used there. the Treblemakers seem to own the night until Beca gets in with her infectious "no diggity" and get the audience to join them.
Nonetheless, the biased referee picked the Treblemakers as the winner due to a technicality issue. yet, it is apparent to others that Beca is really gifted.
Spending more time with Jesse, Beca plays several of her own mixes of contemporary songs for him, and he compliments her for her talent. After learning that Beca doesn't like movies, never even making it through a movie from beginning to end because she loses interest, Jesse tries to get Beca to watch the ending of The Breakfast Club, one of his favorite movies.
Once at the semi-finals, Beca notices how bored the audience is with Aubrey's traditional and overused arrangement, so she provides impromptu back-up, La Roux's "Bulletproof." The Bellas come in third in the competition behind the Treblemakers and the Footnotes; even though the audience seemed to enjoy Beca's remix, Aubrey becomes furious and yells at Beca, who quits the group after yelling at both Aubrey and Jesse. When the Footnotes are disqualified after the discovery that their lead singer was still in high school, the Barden Bellas are called to Nationals in their place. The Bellas get back together after returning from spring break, with the notable exception of Beca.
During this time, Beca begins working as a DJ at the Barden radio station, playing her music on the overnight shift while also steadily distancing herself from Jesse. Upon finding a copy of The Breakfast Club and watching it in its entirety, however, she realizes how much she needs the Bellas and Jesse in her life. Beca went to see Jesse to apologise and perhaps make it up with him again.
At his door though, Jesse blows Beca off as he was frustrated that Beca still doesn't get it that she does have an issue about having people care for her. Until she figures that out, he can't be with her or somewhat (my memory is getting hazy at this point, huhu)
Confused, she went to see her father in order to get some consolation regarding her upheaval. He convinces her to rejoin the Bellas, and to do what's right with her life. During the rehearsal, Bellas are having tussles over Aubrey's domineering self who after criticisms from others turns up losing control by vomiting all over.
Beca arrived and apologised for her adlib during the semi-finals. She turns to leave but Aubrey stops her and finally explains why she was so uptight and controlling: Aubrey's father said to her "if u fail the first time, get your bags packing".
it started off a heart-to-heart session in which the Bellas revealed secrets about themselves: Stacie (simply too much sex), Cynthia Rose (been addicted to gambling since she split from her gf), Lilly ("i eat my twin in the womb"), Fat Amy ("i'm actually Fat Patricia!"), Beca (no girl friends outside the Bellas), Chloe (can't hit high notes from now on as she had removed her nodes when the Bellas failed to advance to the Nationals at first). the Bellas then appoint Beca as their group leader and decide to adopt Beca's more modern music style.
Meanwhile, Bumper leaves the Treblemakers after being offered a job as a back-up singer for John Mayer. With Nationals approaching and the group short a member, Jesse becomes the new group leader and persuades the Trebles to allow his socially awkward roomie, Benji (Ben Platt) to join the group in Bumper's place.
At the Nationals, the Bellas sing a piece arranged by Beca, the tune catchy and fresh "Price Tad/Don't You Forget About Me/Give me Everything". the song mashup is a bit special you see, for it has the ending song of the Breakfast Club movie "Don't You Forget About Me". Once their performance is over, Beca reunites with Jesse with a kiss.
Fast forward to six months later, auditions are beginning for the new year and the Treblemakers and the Bellas are preparing to select new members for their groups; Jesse and Benji are shown sitting at a desk in the auditions hall, followed by Beca and the Barden Bellas, along with their trophy from Nationals.
Special Featurette, the Cast!
Riviu:
forgive me for overloading this post with GIF images. i really can't help it, the muvi is really that good, i wish to relive everything the morning after and the days onwards. a 5 star Queen of the bubble-gum fun realm :)
i was listening to the songs from the movie since last week and haven't been bored at all. it was really a nice, good-feeling movie really, the cast chemistry is really electric and believable. and last night finally watching it, i can't stop smiling :)
at first i was watching this movie for Anna Kendrick, she's really talented you see and in this movie, my respect for her simply manifolds. then there is this Fat Amy persona. RW really steals the show with her oneliners. i love her quips and antics which are really hilarious. her horizontal running, OMG funny! then her comments about Cynthia Rose and Lilly ("don't shout now!") put me in stitches :)
the rest of the Bellas were nice also. Aubrey was surprisingly a nice person really, underneath it all. her voice was pleasant and AC had her controlling mannerisms right to the tee. Chloe was a good singer too and she was nice, loyal to Aubrey though she agrees with Beca's PoV. as for Bumper, he's really obnoxious, to a tee, also :)
but then, a gem in a decent guy was also found. i was nuts for Skylar Astin, he's really good in this movie, you get to wish he was someone u knew in your life. i mean, he's smart, funny and a perfect male friend. genuinely nice, really!
you guys can check out this clip for their rehearsal:
trust me, GO WATCH (AND BUY) THIS MOVIE!

In spite of their distasteful set list, the group manages to place second at the regional a cappella competition behind the all-time favourite the Treblemakers led by Bumper Allen (Adam DeVine), which gives them the bid to semi-finals. however, after the competition is over, the Treblemakers got into an altercation with another senior a capella group. defending Jesse who refused to get into the fight, Beca got involved. however she scuffles with Fat Amy who tries to take the cup away from the Treblemakers resulting in a window wall being smashed. as Fat Amy and the rest got away, Beca was booked by the police for the deed.
released on bail, Beca was pleasantly surprised to see Jesse waiting for her outside the police compound. however her pleasure turns into irritation when she finds out that Jesse has called her father along who in turn yells at her. the deal about LA is off. she in turn yells at Jesse and returns to her dorm, pissed off. there, her temper simply cools down as the Bellas were waiting for her. it was sweet, really.

On their way to the semi-finals, however, the Bellas stops for gas where Fat Amy is hit with a burrito by Bumper, as they drive past in their own bus. After the other girls clean her up, they continue on their way feeling rather joyful as they sang "Party in USA" together. unfortunately the bus run out of gas, as Fat Amy had forgotten to actually pump gas into the bus after getting hit with the burrito. They are then forced to call the Treblemakers to drive them to the venue, which then leads to some smack talk during the car ride there.
With Nationals approaching and the group short a member, Jesse becomes the new group leader and persuades the Trebles to allow his socially awkward roomie, Benji (Ben Platt) to join the group in Bumper's place.

the Bellas brought their distinctive individual styles that simply blend together nicely |
- Anna Kendrick as Beca Mitchell, a reclusive girl who wants to pursue a music career; she joins the Barden Bellas to appease her father and finds herself being caught up in their world.
- Skylar Astin as Jesse Swanson, a member of the Treblemakers who serves as the main love interest for Beca.
- Anna Camp as Aubrey Posen, the uptight and traditionalist co-leader of the Bellas; when she vomited at Nationals, she ruined the Bellas' chance at winning the previous year. She is constantly critical and insists that The Bellas use the same set list the Bellas have been using for years.
- Brittany Snow as Chloe Beale, the kinder and more civil co-leader of the Bellas, whose attempts to get Aubrey to listen to Beca's suggestions get ignored. Chloe gets "nodes" (nodules) but continues to sing when she discovers she can now sing in a lower tone after the surgery.
- Rebel Wilson as Fat Amy, a comedic and irresponsible member of the Bellas from Tasmania.
- Ester Dean as Cynthia-Rose Adams, a member of the Bellas, a misunderstood lesbian.
- Alexis Knapp as Stacie Conrad, a highly sexual member of the Bellas.
- Hana Mae Lee as Lilly Onakuramara, an Asian member of the Bellas who speaks too quietly to be heard.
- Ben Platt as Benji Applebaum, Jesse's nerdy roommate and an illusionist, who is is initially rejected from the Treblemakers, and is later accepted to replace Bumper.
- Adam DeVine as Bumper Allen, the egotistical leader of the Treblemakers.
- Utkarsh Ambudkar as Donald, Bumper's right-hand man, who beatboxes, raps, and is a main vocalist.
- Freddie Stroma as Luke Morgan, the radio station manager who plays Beca's DJ mixes on the air.
- Jinhee Joung as Kimmy-Jin, Beca's unfriendly Korean roommate.
- Christopher Mintz-Plasse as Tommy, the university's constantly harassed audition launcher.
- John Michael Higgins as John Smith, a misogynistic commentator for the ICCAs.
- Elizabeth Banks as Gail Abernath-McKadden, a commentator for the ICCAs.
- John Benjamin Hickey as Dr. Mitchell, Beca's father, a professor at the college who insists that she attends.

do get the OST: it's for keeps! |
i was listening to the songs from the movie since last week and haven't been bored at all. it was really a nice, good-feeling movie really, the cast chemistry is really electric and believable. and last night finally watching it, i can't stop smiling :)
at first i was watching this movie for Anna Kendrick, she's really talented you see and in this movie, my respect for her simply manifolds. then there is this Fat Amy persona. RW really steals the show with her oneliners. i love her quips and antics which are really hilarious. her horizontal running, OMG funny! then her comments about Cynthia Rose and Lilly ("don't shout now!") put me in stitches :)

Fat Amy blew Bumper off! |
the rest of the Bellas were nice also. Aubrey was surprisingly a nice person really, underneath it all. her voice was pleasant and AC had her controlling mannerisms right to the tee. Chloe was a good singer too and she was nice, loyal to Aubrey though she agrees with Beca's PoV. as for Bumper, he's really obnoxious, to a tee, also :)
but then, a gem in a decent guy was also found. i was nuts for Skylar Astin, he's really good in this movie, you get to wish he was someone u knew in your life. i mean, he's smart, funny and a perfect male friend. genuinely nice, really!

what's your number?
... err, zero?
hahaha.. of course, ZERO ok.

the Trailer:
the Plot:
Ally Darling (Anna Faris) recruits her hunky commitment-phobe neighbour, Colin (Chris Evans) to help her find her past sleeping partners so that she won't go above the national average of sleeping partners a woman should have if she's keen on marriage. her little sister, Daisy (Ari Graynor) is getting married, her mom (Blythe Danner) is disappointed in her and she just got fired on the day she found out that her sleeping partner of 3 months is not keen on being in a serious relationship with her.
the Riviu:
i've always been a fan of AF. and this is the second movie in which i'd have the opportunity to oggle on buck naked CE. the first one was in the cult movie "Not Another Date Movie" in which CE played a major role too, though in this movie, it's like umm, yumm :)
Ally is funny, an optimist and yet, her luck in love haven't struck yet. once she cleverly ensnared Colin into an agreement, they started to hang out together and you have an inkling that Colin is really into her. it just took a longer time for Ally to realise that and she drove, cycled and ran all the way to declare her affections to Colin.
the movie got many funny hilarious points, for example, this one with Simon (Martin Freeman):
but my fave scene is the strip H.O.R.S.E. basketball game Colin got Ally to play to down her sorrows.. it was like- :speechless mata keluar bintang kejora:
dem, CE can shed his clothes for me anytime :)
anyway, this movie is full with nudity or any state of undress, shamelessly. but it also has redeeming points, as to how Colin always smiles around Ally, and Ally is really a good girlfriend to hang out with a guy.
and the wedding vows are romantic.. it reminds me of the scene in leap year, where the Bride expressed her Wedding Toast
sweet kan? sigh..
i'm looking for a guy friend that has the potential to be a life partner. and it was kinda sweet when Colin admitted that he never had any relationship with a girl for so long without sleeping with her until he befriended Ally...
and the OST was quite great. i love the wedding songs :)
